What Virginians Are Saying

To ensure that VTrans Vision is informed by public opinion and preference, a statewide scientific and statistically valid survey will be conducted in spring 2019. The survey, among other things, will seek to identify:

  • Public awareness of available travel options and modes
  • Perceptions of how transportation funding is currently allocated and should be allocated
  • Acceptance and attitude towards automated and connected vehicles, and other technological changes that may impact travel behavior
  • Attitudes towards policies and programming priorities

An address-based sampling (ABS) frame will be used to obtain a representative sample of the population. A sample will be drawn, bilingual (English and Spanish) invitations letters will be mailed to individuals via first-class mail.

The initial set of results is expected to be available in early summer 2019. The results will, among other things, inform development of VTrans Vision, Goals, and Objectives.

This webpage will be updated to include more information and material.
